Types of Subsidies
Income Eligible
The Valley Opportunity Council is committed to providing valuable support through the state's financial assistance programs. The parent fee for childcare services is determined based on your household size and income. This fee structure ensures that families with varying financial situations can access quality care for their children. Furthermore, if you have multiple children in care, each additional child qualifies for a discounted fee, making it more affordable for families with more than one child in need of childcare services.

Vouchers
The Valley Opportunity Council proudly takes part in the state's financial assistance programs and accepts vouchers for both DTA and income-eligible families. This funding, provided by the federal government, is used by our local Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (Seven Hills Org) to offer childcare financial assistance to support low-income or cash benefit families, enabling them to work or attend school. Child Care Resource and Referral agencies play a crucial role in helping local communities by aiding families in finding suitable childcare and assisting eligible families in obtaining childcare financial assistance.
Child Care Resource and Referral agencies play a crucial role in local communities by helping families find childcare options that suit their unique needs. Additionally, these agencies assist eligible families in obtaining childcare financial assistance, ensuring that all children have access to high-quality care and early education opportunities.

DTA
If your family is currently receiving cash assistance through the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) or has received cash assistance in the last two years, it's crucial to reach out to your designated DTA worker or visit your local DTA office. Your assigned caseworker will provide guidance and support to help you initiate communication with the local Child Care Resource and Referral agency (CCR&R), which is operated by the SevenHills Foundation. This process will enable you to access funding for your specific childcare needs, such as after-school programs, early education, or daycare services. By establishing this support, you can ensure that your children receive the necessary care and educational support while you concentrate on meeting your family's financial and personal responsibilities.
SNAP
SNAP Path to Work is a joint federal, state, and local funded program administered by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). We partner with community colleges, MassHire Career Centers, and other employment and training providers who will help you develop the skills and confidence needed to compete in today’s workforce. Services are available in various locations in Massachusetts. SNAP Path to Work can connect you with valuable skills training, assist you with resume development, and advise you on overcoming employment gaps. Employment and training providers can also help you search for jobs, prepare for interviews, and more.
Military& Veterans
At Valley Opportunity Council, we are proud to support Military Families! Finding the proper care and learning environment for your child is an important decision, one we know can be impacted by many variables in a military family's life. If you cannot access military-operated child care due to distance or waitlists, active duty service members (including reservists on active orders) may also be eligible to apply for child care fee assistance if they do not have access to on-base child care. If you have access to other military subsidies that the Valley Opportunity Council has not previously partnered with, we are always willing to work with you to establish a partnership and provide fee assistance. To assist military families in need of care, we have partnered with Child Care Aware and AmeriCorps to offer fee assistance for eligible active-duty military families, providing a solution to address their childcare needs. If you have access to other military subsidies that the Valley Opportunity Council has not previously partnered with. In that case, we are always willing to work with you to establish a partnership and provide fee assistance.
Employer Sponsored
Many Employers in Massachusetts offer different types of benefits to employees that may be either partially or fully subsidized. Does your current employer offer childcare benefits? The Valley Opportunity Council will partner with you and your employer to ensure these benefits are in place.
Eligibility
Eligibility is based on who is in your family, income, and certain expenses. “Eligibility” means who can and can’t get the benefit. If you aren’t sure if you are eligible, family access administrators can help you find out. Child care financial assistance is considered a benefit for children, not adults. Even if you, as a parent or caregiver, are not a U.S. citizen or eligible immigrant, it is safe for you to apply for and receive child care financial assistance for an eligible child. Parents do not have to provide proof of citizenship status as part of the application process.
Tuition Assistance
The Department of Early Education & Care is pleased to offer financial assistance to eligible families through a subsidy program. EEC is committed to providing support for a portion of a family’s childcare expenses based on their household size and income. Due to the high demand and limited funding, we currently have a waitlist in place. We encourage families to reach out to Mass211, where our dedicated team can screen for eligibility and place families on the statewide centralized waitlist over the phone. Additionally, an online application is available for submission at any time for your convenience. A Child Care Subsidy may be available to eligible children from prenatal to 13 years old (16 years old if the child has a diagnosed special need).
